Let the Games Begin!
The time has finally come for those who drive a snowmobile to start preparing for the big SledTown ShowDown Provincial Championship. The winner of last year's competition was Swan Hills. Everyone in that town is excited because it will open the town to more tourism. The increase of tourism will bring a spike of income to businesses such as hotels, restaurants, retail shops and other local businesses. The local Swan Hill club is called the Swan Hills Snow-Goers. All the locals are ready as the snow falls to get back to using their favourite trails and finding new trails to enjoy. A number of the Snowgowers are looking forward to picking up their new sled for this season. We have found that many young people are taking up the sport with a youth pass only $40 for the season. Trail passes are also reasonable at $25 for a day pass or $80 for the season. With this win the club does like to remind the other towns of the win and it does give them “Bragging rights’ at least for the year. The friendly rivalry and the conversations in the local coffee shops is always engaging. In a matter of moments you can see who is from the various clubs and often someone will buy another round of coffees to keep the conversation going. Sheila Gilmour the President of the Fox Creek Snowmobiling club the Northland Sno-goers are getting geared up and are ready for the games to begin.
With the win last year it also helped the Facebook page Sno-Goers club grow to over 1000 people. It is here that many sign up to be part of the group to use the hundreds of miles of trails. Our volunteers are the best as they help out at many other initiatives the club puts on throughout the season. Be sure to follow the Swan Hills Snow-Goers Facebook page for the latest news and updates. Checkout this article for more information.
